Chiropractic Adjustments (diversified/activator)
used to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile (or restricted in their movement) as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time.
Myofascial Release
soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain which aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.
CranioSacral Therapy
gentle, hands-on approach that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release compression in those areas which alleviates stress, pain, and sydfunction while improving whole-body health and performance.
Acupuncture
performed in our office to treat a wide range of conditions. Our doctors stimulate specific acupuncture points with or without needles to correct any imbalance in the body's "qi" (pronounced chi; the body's nature energy meridians). Acupuncture is a great alternative to traditional pain management treatments.
Acupuncture Point Injections / Biopuncture
Acupuncture Point Injection, or Biopuncture, is an integrative therapy that blends the best of Chinese Medicine with conventional and homeopathic medicine. Chronic and acute conditions alike benefit from the injection that uses natural therapeutic substances, such as homeopathic remedies or vitamins, into acupuncture points specific to your wellness needs. Vitamin B12 injections are also available.
Therapeutic Stretching
treatment consists of direct one-on-one contact by the therapist through the use of active and passive stretching. With proper stretching, we are able to increase the range of motion and lengthen muscles, ligaments, and tendons to promote faster healing. It is most beneficial to patients who are experiencing difficulty in performing normal daily activities.
Massage
systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Massage works by kneading and stroking muscles to relax them, and uses friction to stimulate soft tissues. This therapy can increase blood lymph circulation while breaking up scar tissue between muscle fibers. Massage is useful in many conditions in which body relaxation, the reduction of swelling, and muscle mobilization is desired. A lubricating oil or lotion is used to reduce friction during the circular stroking and compression of soft tissue. Some of the benefits of receiving a massage are enhancement of a joint and muscle friction, improved circulation, increased metabolism and expedition of the healing process.
Neuromuscular Re-education
a technique that is similar to balance training and can be used to improve strength, coordination, posture, kinesthetic sense and restore normal soft tissue tone and elasticity. Treatments may include balance exercises while performing multi-dimensional tasks in the frontal, sagittal, and transverse planes. These activities challenge and strengthen fine and gross muscles to improve core control, kinesthetic (positional) awareness, balance and stability.
Therapeutic Exercise
can correct most ailments, improve musculoskeletal function, or help to maintain a state of well-being. Some exercises may be restricted to specific muscles or parts of the body to put those muscle groups through general and vigorous activities. The goal of implementing therapeutic exercises is to improve balance and coordination, release contracted muscles, tendons and fascia, improve mobility in joints, improve circulation, reduce rigidity and promote relaxation, as well as improve overall muscle strength.
Yoga
a series of structured poses linked with your breathing. The benefits of regular practice include increased fitness and lower levels of stress and anxiety. A full yoga session should exercise every part of the body and should include breath control practices, relaxation and meditation.
Qigong
a process of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. This practice helps to cultivate and balance your qi, or “intrinsic life energy”.
Ultrasound Therapy
uses high-frequency sound waves and vibrations administered directly to the area of complaint to produce a deep beating effect which can increase blood flow, relax muscle spasms, massage damaged tissue, and enhance the healing process. Ultrasound uses a specially formulated gel to conduct the sound waves and may temporarily feel cool to the skin. These vibrations and heat help break down and disburse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. Ultrasound treatment is very effective in treating calcium deposits, healing without irritation, speeding metabolism, improving blood flow, reducing nerve root irritation, and enhancing the body's natural healing ability.
Cold Laser Therapy
a non-invasive treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with cells in the tissue that helps to accelerate the healing process, eliminate pain and swelling, reduce spasms and increase functionality with our state of the art K-Laser. Cold laser therapy can stimulate all cell types including muscle, ligament, cartilage, nerves, etc., so a number of conditions can be treated such as arthritis pain, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia pain, knee pain, neck pain, and much more. Kinesio (KT) Taping
technique used to treat muscular injuries by supporting and stabilizing muscles and joints without restricting range of motion. The latex-free tape prolongs the benefits of manual therapy and has successfully treated a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological, and other medical conditions. The taping alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage.
Auriculo Therapy for Weight Loss
works with your body to increase metabolism, suppreses cravings, improve insulin resistance, and decreases abdominal fat by stimulating acupuncture points in the ear that are linked to hunger and appetite without drugs, pills, or needles. This therapy will help to reduces your urge to overeat by helping you relax and focus on things other than food. It can also be particularly helpful for those who deal with emotional eating by releasing endorphins and calming anxiety that can lead to over eating. As a part of the therapy, our doctors create custom tailored nutritional programs to suit each patient's needs and specific weight loss goals.
Mechanical Traction
tables provide passive motion along the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility. Patient lies face down on a table which moves slowly to lengthen the spine. Most patients find this form of treatment to be relaxing and very helpful. However, a patient with acute symptoms may find this treatment to be uncomfortable initially due to increased tenderness and inflammation caused by the injury. Patient benefits include: increased mobility of the spine, improved circulation of spinal fluid, and relaxation.
Graston Technique (Aka: Gua Sha)
soft tissue manual therapy technique used to release stagnated blood from areas of muscle spasm. When blood is trapped in these areas, it fails to receive oxygen from the rest of the body's blood supply, causing pain
Electric Muscle Stimulation
also known as EMS, helps in the relief of pain and the promotion of soft tissue healing. Some of the conditions this therapeutic approach responds to are: ligament sprains, muscle strains, and spasms. EMS works by sending small amounts of electrical impulses which some may describe as “little shocks”, close to the area of the injury. These impulses help to reduce atrophy and increase blood circulation. Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, low-frequency stimulation is created. This prompts the body to secrete endorphins and other natural pain killers to help relieve the pain. EMS should be set to a frequency that is beneficial and comfortable for you.
Heat Therapy
used to help raise the temperature of soft tissue. Using heat to calm tissues suffering from long-term spasm or irritation is an easy way to increase flexibility, range of motion, and promote circulation to speed the healing process. Any form of superficial heat applied to the surface of the skin will enlarge the blood vessel below the surface, reduce joint stiffness, relax the tissue, temporarily relieve painful symptoms, and aid in preparing the tissues for rehabilitation.
Ice Therapy
used to manage the acute injuries or recent eruptions of chronic conditions. The purpose of using ice is to provide a cooling analgesic effect to the tissue which is effective in reducing and preventing post traumatic swelling. Cold treatment is an easy way to reduce local swelling of an inflamed tissue. By applying ice, the surface cools and provides relief by constricting blood vessels, numbing painful areas, helping relax muscle spasm, and reduce nerve transmission.
